The intriguing game Nerdle will put your aptitude for math and reasoning to the test. You have six chances to correctly guess an equation using numerals and operators. You can see how many digits are in the solution and where they should be after each guess. Each number you have predicted will be colored in order to help you find the correct answer.

Options

An options table will appear when you click to the gear icon. In this table, you can choose to turn on/off:

  • Dark theme
  • Colorblind mode (Higher contrast colors)
  • Allow commutative answers (a + b = b + a)

How To Play

In six tries, guess the Nerdle. The color of the tiles will change after each guess to indicate how close your guess was to the answer.

Rules in Nerdle

  • Every try is a calculation.
  • Players can use 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, +, -, *, / or = as long as it makes sense. However, it must contain one "=".
  •  There cannot be another calculation to the right of the "=".
  • Calculate "*" and "/" before "+" and "-" in accordance with the usual order of operations. 
  • If the answer is 90+10=100, then the system will also accept 10+90=100 too (unless you turn off "Commutative Answers" in Settings).

The digits are also colored to give the player indication:

  • Green: the number is in the solution and in the correct spot.
  • Purple: the number is in the solution but in the wrong spot.
  • Gray: the number is not in the solution.
  • If, for example, your guess has two 1s but the solution only has one, you will get one color tile and one black tile.
  • Only when the number is in the right place or when a full guess is changed to make a winning commutative answer will a tile turn green.
